If the white wire that you found is not hot when the brake pedal is pressed, then it is not the correct wire from the stop light switch that you need for the brake controller. There may be multiple white wires under the dash, I recommend looking for a heavier gauge white wire in a bundle of wires along the steering column. Your best bet would be to remove the square connector on the camper and replace it with a 6-way connector, item # PK11604, to correspond with the connector on your truck. Your 1986 Chevy pickup wiring has the brake lights and turn signals combined on the same circuit. If the truck did not originally have a 3rd brake light (they didn't become required until later) then you will need to wire the brake light red power wire up to a converter, # 118158.

If the rear most attachment points on the frame of your 1992 Chevy C/K truck do not have the weldnuts in the frame then they could have broken off or corroded away. It should be a C-channel frame so it would be easy to see if it is obvious that a weldnut was there. A professional welder could weld on some new ones for you without much time or cost.

The Hopkins part # HM47294 is going to work just fine on your 1996 Chevy Truck. The fitguide just doesn't go all the way back to 1996 is why your vehicle isn't listed. Brake controller are pretty universal and can hardwire to basically any vehicle.

I do have everything that you need to use the Derale 27" Dual High-Output, Electric Radiator Fan-and-Shroud Assembly part # D16837 but it does not come with any of the wiring or relays needed to power the fans as Derale stopped including them. It simply comes with the fans, shroud, and mounting bracket/hardware. On a 1999 Chevy C3500 there will NOT be a brake controller port to plug in a brake controller. The brake controller has to be hardwired into the truck. Chevy did not start putting in a port until they switched the trucks from C or K to Silverado. Prior to that Silverado was just a trim option.

I called my contact at Westin, and he confirmed that the Westin Perfect Match Series Rear Step Bumper - Chrome Plated Steel # 31000 does not have an opening in the bumper to mount your receiver plug. However, a great solution is to feed the wiring plug up through the space between the tailgate and the bumper itself.
